FAQs
Q: How long have you been doing this type of work?
A: I changed careers in 2000 and took formal welding classes for two years and worked in various metal fabrication shops until my husband and I started our own metal fabrication business, The Metal Shoppe, in 2004. I started my metal art business in conjunction with The Metal Shoppe in February 2008. Together we have more than 30 years experience in the metal trade.
Q: How much time does it take to do that?
A: Each piece is unique. The time it takes to complete any of the metal work I do is dependent upon the size and the degree of detail in the design. Everything I create is done by hand. I do not offer any items that are machine pressed, etc., or any production made pieces. The time is also not determined specifically by the size of the piece. The smaller, more intricate repousse pieces can take as long as a larger welded metal sculpture. Its all in the details. The type of metal work that I do is time and labor intensive and can have a justifiably high price tag.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: Again, each piece is unique in its design and the hours it takes to complete. My prices are based purely on the time it takes to design and then fabricate each piece and the cost of materials. The other added costs are shipping or any applicable sales tax for purchases within the State of California.
Q: How do I get on your schedule?
A: I require a signed contract that clarifies all the details of the piece, signed by both the customer as well as myself. I also require at least a 10% deposit to accompany the signed contract. The deposit may be more in some cases. See my TERMS / COMMISSIONS page for more specific details.
Q: Do you offer refunds?
A: Typically, I do not offer refunds. Most of the work is a custom creation and the details of which will be spelled out in the contract for both parties to sign prior to the start of any work. Any specific artwork will also be signed off on by the customer to be sure there is a clear understanding about the finished product. However, there is a window of time prior to the start of the project, indicated in the contract, where you may opt out before any time or money has been vested. Otherwise, on pre-made retail products, if you are unsatisfied, you may send the product back for a full refund, provided the piece is in the same condition it was in when it was sent to you. Items damaged in the mail or shipment will be replaced or refunded once any necessary claims are filed with the shipper.
Thank you very much for your interest in my work! I don't list any specific pricing of my work on my website because each piece is so completely different and I think I could be misleading to list general pricing. If you have any questions at all about pricing or a specific project you would like me to do, I encourage you to contact me so we can go over the specific details, such as design, labor, materials and my current calendar / schedule.
